Preventing Subdrop

When you’re a slave, you might not realize just how much a scene can take out of you. While you might be floating away on an endorphin cloud, the truth is that your body is undergoing a lot of changes and it might not be something that will cause you pleasure for a long period of time. Instead, you might begin to feel awful in the hours that follow a scene. This is often referred to as subdrop, and it’s something that you can prevent in your body, if you take the time to care for your Dom/me’s greatest possession.

If you’ve just had an intense experience in the dungeon, you might notice that you are shaky and spent by the process. You may instinctively reach for the water, but that’s not always enough. You might begin to feel dizzy and disoriented, and that you are coming down with something. Some slaves can feel as though they are getting sick for up to a week or so after an intense scene. These cold symptoms or feeling under the weather can actually be prevented before they begin.

What’s happening is that your body is undergoing a lot of stress during more intensive scenes. Though you might already realize this, what you don’t realize is that if you’re not taking care of your body, your body is going to feel awful as a result. Instead, you need to make sure you’re drinking plenty of water the day of your scene and in the days that follow. You should also try to get enough rest and to eat nutritious foods when you are getting ready for a more intense scene. If you don’t realize that you are going to have an intense scene, which is often the case, it can help to eat some protein after your scene and to drink something with electrolytes in it to ensure that you’re replenishing your body with the things it needs to feel and to stay well. Right after an intense scene, it’s a good idea to massage your body and to rest with your Master to ensure you are coming down completely before you head home or before you fall asleep for the night.

Much like a professional athlete training for a big competition, you need to be taking care of your body the same way. Both athletes and submissives are being exposed to intense training that can overwhelm the body if the body is not ready for it. Following a healthy nutrition program on a regular basis and supplementing with a multivitamin is always a good idea. This will ensure that your body has the nutrients it requires stored away to be used when subjected to an intense experience. Exercising on a regular basis will ensure that your body is better prepared to physically handle the stress your Dom/me will subject you too.

Managing Subdrop When Symptoms Strike

If you’re already experiencing subdrop, then you need to make sure that you’re managing it once you begin to feel the effects. You might want to take additional time to rest (lots of sleep is essential), take some vitamins, and drink plenty of water. Remember that you have stressed your body and that you need to replenish it in order for it to feel well. If you can’t take time away from work or you don’t have any free time, make sure that you’re avoiding stressful situations, as well as unhealthy foods and other unhealthy habits. It can also help to have some bodywork like a massage in the days after your scene. This will work out any tension as well as any toxins that might have built up in your system as a result of the scene.

While there’s a certain degree to which you will always have some subdrop after a scene, this doesn’t mean that you need to have the feeling that you’re going to be sick after accomplishing great things in the dungeon. Instead, make sure that you are taking care of the slave body before and after your scene, and when you do, you will be ready for another play session the next day.
