Having Fun in a BDSM Relationship

While the movies and books you might have seen demonstrating BDSM relationships make it seem like BDSM is all about pain, this is far from the case. Instead, you might want to look at the ways in which BDSM can be fun, even silly. For some couples that still want to play with each other instead of being serious all the time, you can still enjoy BDSM when you’re laughing in a scene.

Make Role Playing Ridiculous

Instead of going for the normal ‘bad student’ and ‘sadistic teacher’ scenario in a BDSM scene, why not try something that’s a bit more far-fetched? Maybe you can have a clown in the scene or you could include a cartoon character, with all of the same voices and silly sayings. What you want to do is to create something that might make you both laugh and something with which you are both familiar. When you’re not both familiar with the new scene and its characters; that can be tricky. Or take a few cartoon characters that you both enjoy and put them into a BDSM scene to see how they might interact with each other, while still having the same dominant and submissive roles. While you will giggle, try to stick with the roles for as long as possible.

Challenge Each Other in the Scene

Another way that some BDSM relationships act in a more playful way is to have both partners be interested in playing the slave and the Master or Mistress role, depending on their mood. In doing so, you can both take turns challenging the other person to see how far they might be able to go before they have to use a safeword. Now, this sort of playing together is not something you want to do when you’re first with a new partner. This is only something you want to do when you have been with your BDSM partner for a long period of time, and you feel you can trust them to push you to the edge and that they can trust you to push them to the edge. By offering challenges to each other, this can give you both a new way of interacting, while also helping you both see just how far you can go in scenes.

Bring Out the Silly Costumes

When you’re not necessarily interested in role playing or trying to challenge each other, you can simply bring out the silliest costumes you own and try to do a serious scene with these on. What you will probably find is that you both interact differently and that you’re acting in different ways, in response to the visual changes. You might both decide to dress up as clowns or as super heroes, for example. And when you go into a scene, have the rule that you have to act like the character you’ve dressed up as. This is going to create a new spark in your playtime, and it might just turn into one of the hottest scenes you’ve ever done.

BDSM is supposed to be fun, creative, and imaginative, so why are you sticking to all of the same boring scene ideas? Instead, try to think outside of the box and outside of the dungeon. You want to make sure that you’re creating something that is silly from time to time, because this is supposed to be fun – and not a chore. If you let BDSM become a chore, you will find that you’re less likely to stick with the training. And that’s the beginning of the end of a truly effective dominant and submissive relationship.
