I find myself sitting in front of my computer like many days but today is different. Today I find myself lost in thoughts of the past 14 years wondering where the time has gone. For the first time in a long time I find myself at a loss for words.
To say that this past decade has been a rough time would be a true understatement. To explain all the struggles I have had to endure to keep the Academy up and running could easily fill a novel, so I won’t bore you with all the mundane details. Each month has presented a new challenges that have almost shut the site down permanently.
The only thing that has kept me going is my goal to help spread the message of what a truly beautiful and healthy BDSM, Master/slave, Dominant/submissive relationship can be. To dispel all the misconceptions and false information that has plagued BDSM lifestyle since it was first realized. To let people know that not only were their desires ok to have and healthy to express.
I knew early on that this was a huge undertaking and that I would not able to do it alone. The subject matter, the vast number of kinks/fetishes, the massively complex human psyche, and huge diversity/uniqueness among each individual makes any discussion just a scratch of the surface. That is why I created the BDSM Training Academy to be a place where people from around the world could come and help each other in one place. I know I am not the only one with the desire to help others and I wanted to give others that opportunity. One opinion is good, but a vast number of opinions can create a limitless source of ideas, options and methods.
While I knew the backlash from the general public was to be expected. Most people fear what they don’t understand and even more people refuse to even try to learn about that which they don’t understand. It is far easier and safer to just criticize and condemn. So the negative emails, and threats become a standard occurrence that one must learn to ignore.
The businesses and people who refuse to deal with myself and the Academy because of the subject matter associated with us. It is easier for people and businesses to look away and not associate with subjects they don’t understand. That is their right and I would never force anybody to ever work with myself or the Academy if it made them uncomfortable.
The harder thing to deal with is the negativity that comes from within the community. From people who know and understand the negativity that W/we all already face from those who do not understand or accept who W/we are. As I said, I created the Academy for individuals from around the world to have a medium where they can come together and not only learn from others but be able to share their own knowledge and experience. To create a safe environment where people can feel comfortable learning about their desires in a judgement free atmosphere.
I guess it is just easier to criticize instead of create. To condemn instead of help.
I do not write this looking for sympathy or pity but to remind myself to appreciate those that have chosen to help. Those amazingly brave people who have stepped forward and shared their knowledge, experience and ideas. Those people will always hold a special place in my heart.
To remind those who choose to read this that you are not alone. You may feel different, misunderstood and ostracized where you live because of your desires, but you are not alone. I created the Academy for you and will fight to keep it here for you, so you have a place to come to help you become who you were always meant to be.
To let those who have a desire to share their knowledge and help others that W/we are here to help you do just that. W/we want to give you the microphone to let your voice be heard.
To let the kinky arts shine. To give the artist in you a place to show the world your talents and your creativity.
To let those who have a desire to create, build and develop new ideas, tools and gear a place to share them with others.
I know the struggles that W/we all face because of O/our desires, I just want you to know that the Academy is here for you.
