Lead or Follow? Dominant or submissive? For many people this seems like such a silly question. If you are interested in BDSM then obviously you must know what you prefer. However, this is one of the most complex questions within BDSM. You must truly know yourself and your desires to understand your answer to this question. Many people will say they are Dominant for years, some have even become professionals Dom/mes only to realize that they have truly been submissive their whole life.
So before you decide what you identify as within the BDSM landscape, first ask yourself what do you desire and why. Then you can answer the question, “What would I rather be Dominant, submissive or switch?”
Know that this answer is not written in stone, so don’t worry over it. You can change your mind at any time. But to begin your journey within BDSM, it is a good idea to know what direction you want to head in.
